As part of your annual service, your caravan tyres are checked thoroughly for signs of damage, cracks, splits and other signs of deterioration. They will have their production date and tread depth checked and you will be informed if there are any reason why they need to be changed.
Caravans do a fairly low annual mileage – on average around 2,000 miles a year, so it would take many years of use to wear out the tread.
However, some factors can make them deteriorate in a different way, even with careful use.
Being stored for long periods of the year without use can put undue strain on one particular part of the tyre.
Caravan tyres therefore need regular replacement, irrespective of their visual appearance. The Caravan & Motorhome Club and TyreSafe.org recommend that you replace your caravan tyres when they reach five years old and should never be used when more than seven years old.
If your tyres need a high inflation pressure (50psi or more), you should check regularly for signs of deterioration from three years old and should not be used when they reach five years.
Remember – the tyre's age starts from when it was made, not from when it was fitted.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
A tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is an electronic system designed to monitor the air pressure inside the pneumatic tyres on various types of vehicles. A TPMS reports real-time tyre-pressure information to the driver of the vehicle, either via a gauge, a pictogram display, or a simple low-pressure warning light.
TPMS sensors have a limited battery life and need to be changed regularly. If you have TPMS in your motorhome or car, we can change these for you.
